Oh goodness me, I need to take a moment to catch my breath! I mean how is it almost June already?!!
Incase you haven’t heard me talk about Project Sparkle before, which if you’re new ish here might be the case because I’ve publicly dropped the ball for quite some time now, you may benefit from having a quick read of this.
So have I given up on Project Sparkle… I mean that is what you’re wondering right? The answer is no, but maybe, sort of yes. The reason I love the process of things like 101 lists, 30 before 30, project sparkle etc is that they are a brilliant way of reassessing your life, where you have been, where you are now and where you want to go, what you want to achieve and what you need to go to make that happen. They facilitate reflection and refocus in a way that New Year’s resolutions and grand statements of change don’t. For that reason I totally haven’t given up on Project Sparkle, it was always more a mindset than a list of tasks anyway. But I think where I am and what I need has changed from the place that I was in when writing my list in January.
I have done an update below {it’s massive, apologies in advance}. There are another 1 or 2 things I’m hoping to do this weekend while Mark and I are away which I’ll update next week. While we’re away we’ve penciled in some personal time. Time for Mark to faff on xbox without me asking him to turn it down or do jobs and for me to faff with my blog, read a magazine, have a massage without feeling guilty that I should be doing something else. One of the things I am hoping to focus on is what “Project Sparkle: part 2″ looks like. What do I still need to do and want to do over the second half of this year.
Nutrition
2. keep a food diary
This is something I have done with Laura during our work together
5. make breakfast muffins
I have made some muesli muffins and some vegan blueberry muffins which are really moist and banana bread like but typically I can’t find the link for the recipe.
8. enjoy a family brunch
Thanks to the munchkin portable highchair I picked up from Asda for £20 whilst the cleaners came the other weekend we went out for an early morning breakfast {5am wakeups are a favourite these days}. It was such a lovely hour together!
15. try chocolate beetroot cake
Randomly a friend at work had some so I tried a little. It was ok, definitely open to trying it again but it wasn’t an ‘omg this is to die for!’ moment.
Fitness
Well this category is a big fat wash out. I really haven’t done much to anything that could be put in this category except getting my bike serviced so it is ready for me to take it out for a ride now.
Personal
33. have a facial
When I wrote this I was more meaning a professional facial but it hasn’t happened. However, I’ve got into quite a good routine of giving myself an at hoome facial whilst William is in the bath once or twice a week. I remove my makeup, cleanse twice, use a scrub and then apply cream. Sometimes I do a face mask {really liking Lush’s Oatifix at the moment} in between scrub and cream or I use Elizabeth Arden’s 8 hour cream which I think is like a treatment for my skin.
38. have a massage
One of the ladies from book group does massage and I went there a few weeks ago. It was so indulgent and lovely although I feel ready for another one now!!
41. buy a scented candle
I bought a raindrop candle from tkmaxx but the scent really isn’t sitting well with me and it’s a case of lighting it to use it up now! However, I am really excited to try my new blackcurrant and rhubarb crumble candles which I picked up from Homebase – at only £4 each I think they are a bargain too!
42. sort through cosemtics and re-home or throw away unused items
A work in progress which I will be blogging more about soon!
44. do a hair treatment
After all the abuse my hair took bleaching out the henna I have been very kind to it. I did conditioner with clingfilm on my head, coconut oil and specific deep conditioning products. I haven’t done anything colour wise now for over 6 weeks and I’m proud for lasting this long but missing the ritual.
45. stay overnight in a hotel
We are having 2 nights away in a fancy, child unfriendly, apartment this weekend and I can’t wait! It isn’t strictly a hotel but when I added this task to the list it was thinking about going away as a couple and just relaxing which is what this weekend is going to be all about. We chose an apartment as it gives us more flexibilty and has better facilities for us whilst costing a little less!
49. get rid of clothes you don’t look good or feel good in
A work in progress which I will be blogging more about soon!
52. spend the day in PJs just hanging out
Over the last few months we have been trying to find better balance at home with work, chores and relaxing. Now we try to spend Saturdays doing chores and protect Sunday as a day for relazing, watching films and doing things together as a family. So far it is working really well and has meant a few relaxed PJ based Sundays!
