Before Mark and I went away I did a recap on project sparkle and mentioned that I was going to think about where I was going with it as we hit the halfway point.  Clearly it’s taken me a while!  I kept coming back to the fact that December next year I will be 30.  30 <— how did this happen!?  That’s the age that means you’re a proper adult and I don’t feel it.  However, I have the job, the house, the child and the dependence on lists, calendars, {takeaway} coffee and iPhone which all point to it being true.

Did you ever have a vision of what life would look like once you hit a certain age?

I did.  I do.  Most of my life is ontrack but there are a few areas that I think need some conscious effort.  Several times I have sat, pondered and written lists of 30 ‘things’ to do before my 30th birthday, inspired by other people’s lists such as Nicole’s completed list and Cassie’s inprogress list.  My experience of lists in the past is that I have a tendency to under estimate the time/dedication/effort required and over estimate the time/dedication/effort I have available.  Which obviously isn’t a great combination.

So instead I have chosen three areas of my life that I want to improve and develop over the next 72 weeks.  Yup, only 72 weeks until the beginning of December 2014!!  {for those of you how have just fleetingly thought of Christmas, yes it seems there are only ~23 weeks until this Christmas}.  Each month I will first update you on what I am hoping to tackle that month and at the end of the month let you know my progress!

2.  my blog.

I blog for fun.  A few years ago I became disillusioned with the way many people were turning to blogging as a career.  Not because I have issue with it in principle, but because I felt {and feel} and some people lost sight of the community, and basic ethics, in the process.  That isn’t something I can change though.  I am happy that I have stood firm in my beliefs and remained true to myself.  This space is about me, not money, freebies or celebrity.  Yet I would be lying if I didn’t say I am sad that my readership is as low as it is.

Before I spent time and effort blogging regularly, replying and embracing every opportunity and had began to get a nice steady flow of people reading.  After so much chopping, changing and general slackness it’s not such a flow and not so steady.  I am ok with it, but I hope that by spending a little more time posting, replying and being consistent that my ‘views’ will increase.

3.  my home.

More accurately, our home.  There still quite a few jobs on the nickle list, few jobs that need adding to the to-do list, outdoor space which could do with ripping out and starting again some tlc and lots of areas which could be made some useful and organised.  I hope that by my 30th birthday I will feel like we have completed this house as much as possible and that we are ready to hand it over to new guardians and for us to find pastures new with fresh projects to tackle.

Amy x
