As I mentioned on Monday I’ve been eating the same foods alot.
I may or may not have yesterday eaten 2 chocolate twists with a large coffee for breakfast, a bacon sandwich for lunch and a generous helping of my Gran’s mince cobbler. However, on the whole I’ve been eating this or a variant of it every.single.day. So if you want to see that – please re-read last week’s post!
Instead I thought you might like a ‘recipe’, I use the word recipe loosely as it’s only 3 ingredients and 4 pieces of equipment needed, including a spoon!
Step 1: get yourself a tub like this, it’s from Tesco and was about £2
Step 2: weigh 40g of porridge oats and place in the bottom of the pot
Step 3: you need 1/2 cup of natural yoghurt and 1/2 cup of frozen berries. I’ve been debating which order these should go in far more than a sane person should. Logically I think berries first so the juice goes straight over the oats as the fruit defrosts. But I think it looks more attractive on top of the yoghurt. Your call!
Step 4: pop in the fridge overnight and enjoy for breakfast the next day.
Just a quick word of warning on the yoghurt front. There is alot, honestly ALOT, of sugar in some yoghurts. The low fat ones and flavoured varieties in particular. I try to aim for around 5g per 100g of yoghurt balanced out with the fat content. Sometimes you’ve just got to grab what is on offer or in the fridge but it is good practise to take a moment to check the sugar content in products you regularly buy every now and then to make sure you are making wise and informed decisions. One of the best I’ve found for sugar/fat balance is the large plain chobani but at £2 for 500g at the rate we’ve been eating yoghurt it’s an expensive habit and also seems to be tricky to find.
