I have purposefully not tweeted about the tragedy that took place at the Boston marathon yesterday.  My twitter feed blew up.  I read, I shed a tear, I prayed and I turned off.  During last night and today I have taken some time to reflect on what happen, what it means and how I want to react.

My heart came to a few conclusions, I had a few nuggets of thought I wanted to share with you.

The photo above is strong and positive, I refuse to bring additional attention to such negative scenes.  Because at first glance many of the photos shared yesterday were negative.  Infact, it took a while of searching through google images to get to this one.

But when I think back to those images, I am struck by how many people flocked to those injured and did what they could to help.  The way people retweeted messages from individuals desperately trying to locate loved ones.  Maybe I am wrong to think of them as negative.

I believe that people are good.  Most people are kind, loving and caring individuals.  Don’t forget that, we should never forget that!

Somethings cannot be explained with words.

Community is an amazingly powerful thing.  With the help of technology it cannot be stopped by geography.  With the help of love it cannot be stopped by evil.

If you were touched by the events of yesterday what can you do to fight against the negative?  Can you volunteer some time to a local charity?  Can you do some jobs for a neighbour?  Could you smile and share a warm greeting with a stranger?  If we all do small positive acts, then our community will be strengthened and ‘they’ won’t be able to break us.
